History of YTP Vancouver
After launching in February 2024, the Youth Tutoring Project's Vancouver chapter has provided many opportunities for our dedicated volunteers to support others in our community, by working with younger students to create enriching learning environments. YTP strives to support students from low-income communities, by providing free tutoring, making education accessible to everyone. Through peer-to-peer learning, we have been able to not only help our volunteers gain valuable experience and knowledge, but made large impacts in the educational journeys of students throughout Vancouver.
Tutoring
At YTP Vancouver, we aim to make education as accessible as possible to those in our communities. To accomplish this, we make a conscious effort to broaden our outreach to communities and groups where the opportunities we provide may not be as common. By focusing our support to students from lower-income communities, we are able to impact the education of students throughout Vancouver. We also try our best to create personalized learning plans with our students, through our one-on-one tutoring that allows students to learn in ways that work best for them.
Volunteering
Our chapter is always excited to have new volunteers! We try to provide as many opportunities as possible for our volunteers, by having various roles in our different departments, so there is always something for everyone. Whether you enjoy graphic design, leadership, community outreach, or student interactions, we at YTP Vancouver would love to work with you! Not only do we have a variety of opportunities, but we are also eager to hear any suggestions for new projects and departments. Within our executive team, we have three main departments, internal, external, and marketing, all of which play vital roles in building our YTP team. Other than that, we have a large team of tutors, who work one on one with students to support their learning. We know that balancing school, extra-curriculars, and social activities can be challenging, which is why we try out best to lighten your workload. We have tons of resources to support you in your role, and we make an effort to make your experience volunteering with YTP as enjoyable as possible!
